Four Favourites from The Ordinary.

Although I do love the occasional drugstore makeup gem, I can't say I've ever been truly interested in budget skincare, not when my face is involved at least. Mostly because cheaper brands have the tendency to add lots of artificial fragrances to their products that can aggravate my sensitive skin, and in general I've always believed that you get what you pay for and good ingredients don't come for free. Then The Ordinary happened and took by storm not just the whole beauty community but also my skincare cabinet, and made me completely rethink my attitude toward skincare.

What I love about the brand is their minimalist, no-nonsense approach to products: they got rid of all the unnecessary stuff, such as fancy packaging, superfluous ingredients, fragrance and the like, and  bottled up just the pure actives that are what the skin really needs. By doing so they allow you to target directly your own skin concerns and create your perfect skincare regime without breaking the bank. Brilliant!
I've been trying a few of their products for quite some time and these are my favourites so far.

As someone who constantly battles with dehydrated skin, I couldn't pass on my favourite skincare ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, which helps the skin absorb and retain moisture and delivers plumper and smoother skin pretty much instantly. The added vitamin B5 boosts the healing process and makes this serum even more effective for banishing dry patches and flaky bits. It makes such a huge difference for my skin and I won't be parting with it anytime soon.

The Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG is the one I was probably the most excited about, as it targets puffiness and dark circles, and as a troubled sleeper and contact lenses wearer I need all the extra help I can get. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after using it for a few days I could definitely tell that the combination of caffeine and green tea extracts truly improves my eye area and helps tone down both pigmentation and swelling. Brighter eyes for less than 6£? Yes, please.

It's never too early to start worrying about preventing wrinkles and including anti-ageing products in our routine, and according to the experts Matrixyl 10% + HA is the bomb dot com. Enriched with hyaluronic acid to penetrate deeper into the skin, it boosts collagen production and as a result lines are less prominent and skin is softer, fuller and healthier looking, and should remain youthful for longer. Obviously is too early to tell whether it will make a difference on the long run, but I'm motivated and totally committed, which is half the job when it comes to skincare.

Due to it's ability to improve skin clarity and texture, and boost radiance, exfoliating is one of my favourite steps in my routine, but I like to stick to mild products as my skin can be quite sensitive. Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2 is really effective and yet gentle enough that I can easily use it every other night to keep my skin glowy and make my makeup go on much smoother. Remember that chemical exfoliants make the skin sun sensitive though, so always wear SPF!

  3. I have the HA moisturiser which is nothing fancy but does the job. Interested in trying the Hyaluronic Acid as can't have enough of that for skin plumping. Heard the Caffeine is good from others too.
