5 Skincare favourites in 2021.

 

I know I say something along these lines every single year, but I can't believe 2021 came to an end and we're already in 2022. The past year truly went by in a blink of an eye, yet somehow was super tiring and stressful. So long! My main focus in the last 12 months has been on keeping my skin in decent conditions and fighting maskne and dryness on a daily basis. I'm so thankful I had some amazing skincare products by my side and today I'm excited to share with you my favourites, the products I've been using a lot lately and I'll probably be using just as much in the upcoming months. 

2021 is the year I finally got to try Drunk Elephant and although I came late to the skincare party, I caught up fast. Of all the products I tested and loved, the Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum was undeniably a highlight. The combination of Lactic acid, which is such a great exfoliant for dry and sensitive skin as it's gentle and improves hydration, and 11 signal peptides that strengthen the skin and help it heal faster, is a huge winner in my books.

Back in spring I put aside my old Foreo Fofo and upgraded to a Luna Mini 3, and it might have been the best thing I've ever done for my skin. The larger surface and many, longer touching points make this device the most gentle cleansing tool and yet so effective that it does leave my skin feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of my routine. I also love the 30 seconds Glow Boost that I can use whenever I want to be done with my cleansing quickly while also getting that extra glow. Chef kiss!

Even if it's a fairly recent discovery, the next one was an easy pick as it's basically the only cleanser I've been reaching for in the past weeks; I've already sung my love for the Paula's Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm here so I will keep it short and sweet. It's thick and lush, and feels like a warm hug for my sensitive, parched complexion. It removes my makeup and sunscreen easily and nourishes my skin at the same time, leaving it supple and uber soft. Without a doubt one of the best cleansers out there!

Something I can see myself repurchasing for years to come is the Lanolips 101 Ointment Multipurpose Superbalm. This is my 4th? 5th tube maybe? I couldn't tell to be honest, and even if I've tried almost every single flavour, I always go back to the original one as it can be used in so many different ways! Not only this deeply moisturizing, healing balm is the best for my forever-dry lips, but it's also my secret weapon to quickly deal with dermatitis, cuts, burns and mending blemishes. I'll never be without it.

Lastly, when Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment by The Inkey List came out it took the beauty community by storm - everyone and their grandma were talking about it and as soon as I got my hands on this little guy I could easily see why. Inside this tiny tube there's a mighty treatment that makes those pesky zits heal so much faster! In addition to a mild green-ish tint that helps tone down the redness, this feathery lotion calms down any acne breakouts, reducing soreness, swelling and inflammation. Succinic acid is a new ingredient for me but thanks to its gentle exfoliation properties - here combined with sulphur to draw out spots and salicylic acid to clear the congested pore -, is now a firm favourite.

So che dico sempre qualcosa del genere ogni anno che passa, ma non posso credere che il il 2021 sia finito e che siamo già nel 2022. L'anno passato se n'è andato in un soffio, anche se allo stesso tempo è stato infinitamennte stressante e molto duro. Vabbè, addio! Il mio obiettivo principale negli ultimi 12 mesi è stato quello di mantenere la pelle in condizioni accettabili, combattendo quotidianamente con secchezza e mascne. Fortunatamente avevo degli ottimi prodotti ad affiancarmi in questa lotta e oggi voglio parlarvi dei miei preferiti, ovvero quelli che ho utilizzato con più frequenza e con tutta probabilità continuerò ad utilizzare anche nei mesi a venire.

 

Il 2021 è stato l'anno in cui ho potuto finalmente provare i prodotti Drunk Elephant e sebbene sia arrivata tardi alla festa, mi sono data da fare e ho recuperato in fretta. Tra tutti i prodotti che ho testato e amato, il siero levigante Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum meriterebbe un post tutto suo. La combinazione di Acido Lattico, che è un esfoliante favoloso per chi come me ha la pelle secca e sensibile essendo delicatissimo e un umettante che migliora l'idratazione cellulare, e 11 peptidi che rafforzano la barriera cutanea ed accelerano la guarigione della pelle, è una vera bomba. Da provare assolutamente.

Tornando in primavera, a Marzo ho messo da parte il mio vecchio Foreo Fofo e sono passata al Luna Mini 3, passaggio che si è poi rivelato essere la cosa migliore che avrei potuto fare per la mia pelle. La superficie più ampia e i punti di contatto più lunghi e numerosi lo rendono lo strumento per la detersione più delicato ma allo stesso tempo super efficace, e che dona una sensazione di freschezza e pulizia ideali preparando la pelle al resto della routine. Impazzisco anche per la funzione Glow Boost che dura solo 30 secondi e posso utilizzare ogni volta che voglio terminare in fretta la detersione e illuminare la pelle ancora di più. Al bacio!

Anche se è una scoperta piuttosto recente, il prossimo prodotto è stato una scelta quasi automatica perché è praticamente l'unico detergente che ho utilizzato nelle ultime settimane; ho già parlato dell'Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm di Paula's Choice qui, quindi sarò breve. E' denso e decadente, e sembra quasi un dolce abbraccio per la mia pelle irritata e assetata. Rimuove trucco e protezione solare in un soffio e nutre la pelle allo stesso tempo, lasciandola elastica e morbidissima. Senza dubbio uno dei detergenti migliori sul mercato!

Posso dire con assoluta certezza che il 101 Ointment Multipurpose Superbalm di Lanolips è uno di quei prodotti che continuerò a comprare per anni e anni. Questo è il mio quarto? Quinto tubetto? Non saprei dire onestamente, e anche se ho provato quasi tutte le deliziose profumazioni, torno sempre all'originale perchè è terribilmente versatile. Non solo questo balsamo profondamente idratante e rigenerante è il migliore per le mie labbra cronicamente secche, ma è anche la mia arma segreta per affrontare dermatite, tagli, bruciature e imperfezioni in via di guarigione. Non potrei mai vivere senza.

Per finire, quando è arrivato, il Succinic Acid Blemish Treatment di The Inkey List ha mandato in fermento l'intera comunità beauty - se ne parlava ovunque ed appena sono riuscita a metterci le mani ho capito il perché. Dentro a quel piccolo tubetto si nasconde un trattamento quasi magico che fa guarire quelle fastidiose imperfezioni in metà del tempo! Oltre ad una leggera tinta verdognola che aiuta a mimetizzare il rossore, questa lozione leggera calma brufoli e acne, riducendo dolore, gonfiore e infiammazione. Non avevo mai sentito parlare di acido Succinico prima d'ora ma grazie alle sue delicate proprietà esfolianti - qui unite allo zolfo per far emergere i batteri, e all'acido salicilico per esfoliare il poro congestionato - , adesso è uno dei miei ingredienti preferiti.
